Job Description

This will be based at our Woking Depot

The holder of this post is responsible to form up and shunt/move stock as directed. You will adhere to depot protection, safety, quality and environmental procedures, rules and regulations in force.

Main Purpose

Undertake routine electrical and mechanical maintenance of components and systems in accordance with the relevant exam schedule.
Form up service trains as specified by Movements Manager, Fleet Control or Ground Frame Operator
To shunt stock as specified.
To prepare trains for service.
Work to laid down specifications.
Comply with rules and regulations.
Adhere to working instructions.
Advise of all work undertaken and any problems encountered promptly.
Report any defects found on stock whilst carrying out duties.
Carry out/adhere to depot protection procedures.
Work to be undertaken to comply with depot quality procedures.
Ensure work is undertaken to meet service requirements.
Work to be undertaken in a safe manner.
Carry out Driver Only Preparation as required.
Carryout winter precautions within the depot as per local instructions.
Advise Movements Manager of any problems or defects identified and work arising from the issues.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Successful completion of training relevant to the job.
Passed out in Rules and Regulations.
Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative.

Specific Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications:

Experience working in an Operational environment
Experience working within a Safety Critical environment
Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative.

As part of the role you will attend practical training courses to gain knowledge and qualifications in the following;

Depot operating procedures and safety requirements.
Personal Track Safety
DC Electrified Lines.
Passed out in Rules and Regulations as required

Working Pattern

Average of 37 hours per week.

Rotating shift pattern working an average of 5 shifts out of 7, to provide 24hour cover.

Applicants requiring a visa, must have at least 6 months remaining at the start of employment.
